People living alone
Community service providers may be the first to recognise changes in memory, behaviour and other symptoms of dementia. Collaborating with local community service providers and health professionals is recommended and could help the person to recognise the symptoms and start the process of diagnosis.
Persons' living alone that are reluctant to start the process of diagnosis can be referred Dementia Australia to provide further support.
It may help to explain to the person with dementia that they have a better chance of staying in their home for longer with appropriate levels of support where there is a diagnosis of dementia.
